I’ve read some colleges don’t actually like dual enrollment, some highly praise it, it depends. How does MIT look upon it? I’m looking to apply next year and the only reason I’m taking dual enrollment at the local college is because they offer an introductory engineering course which highly interests me as I plan to go into computer engineering and robotics and I think it’d really give me a boost in prep and all. Furthermore, anyone who got into MIT who has taken dual enrollment? Thanks ^^"
You stated good reasons for taking the dual enrollment class. That is what MIT wants to see, students doing what they find interesting and challenging. Keep it up.
@brassratter is completely correct. As a rule, anything that a student does specifically to get into any highly competitive school is the wrong thing. Rather you should do whatever you consider to be cool and interesting and the chances are, that if you match well for MIT, then MIT will also consider it to be cool and interesting and then you will get in. There are a bunch of applicants each year who take local college courses, not because they have exhausted the options available at their secondary school, not because they have a genuine interest in the subject, but because they think that it looks good on an application. Those students are wrong.
@brassratter @Mikalye Thanks! In addition I happen to really like doing presentations and teaching so I think I’ll also take up the Public Speaking DE course next year ^^
