Senior course load: AP lit, AP bio, AP world, French 3, Pre calc, Ceramics,Leadership, yearbook

I have also done a short exchange program in France

I know i will be able to get really good teacher recs.

I plan on majoring in Athletic training

Reach- University of Michigan
Penn state
University of Texas
Boston college
NYU
University of Pitt.
University of southern california

Match- Boston University
Uconn
University of Washington
San Diego state

Safety-
Boise State
Whitworth
Northeastern

This is a rough list of places i would like to apply to, does anyone have any advice of schools to add or take off this list, i know that not all of these schools offer athletic training, but i am not positive i want to major in that so i don't want to rule out any schools yet

Also considering- Purdue, James Madison, Colorado state, University of Miami, Marquette, George Washington University, Northern Arizona University, Temple,

Can you pay full price for all of these schools?

I can’t pay for them full price, and that’s part of the reason my list isn’t finished. I would hate to get accepted to a school and not be able to pay for it.

If you can’t pay full price then take NYU off of your list because they have inadequate FA packages. Also, out of state schools will consider instate students for financial aid before you so you might want to look at other types of schools.

Northeastern is a match, not a safety. Since you are in-state for Washington why aren’t UW or WSU on your safety list? Are you aware of WUE which will get you some reduced rates for tuition? [WICHE - Student Exchange Programs](http://wue.wiche.edu/search_results.jsp?searchType=all) If you have financial need you need to look in-state for some financial safeties.

Okay i probably wont apply to NYU, thanks Elbeen. and Erins dad, i thought that UW would be a match for me not a safety, do you think i should include it with my safeties, and i am not a big fan of WSU.

Kind of random that someone from WA is looking at Temple, because we dont have a lot of students from the West Coast other than from California. You’ll get in, but you’ll probably need a 30+ on the ACTs for a significant scholarship. Nonetheless, if you have any questions about TU, feel free to PM me.

Im looking at temple because i want to major in athletic training, and go to a school that has a big sports program too.

You’ll be in the middle 50% for Pitt if you get that ACT up, and Pitt seems to love to get students from geographically underrepresented areas, and the Pacific Northwest certainly qualifies. I think you’d be in great shape. Scholarship money may be dicey, but they’re going to love you being from Washington.

Pitt also has one of the best athletic training programs in the country as well. According to [this study, it was ranked 5th in the nation.](http://www.hiceducation.org/edu_proceedings/Toby%20L.%20Dore.pdf) Physical therapy is ranked #2 by US News. Their medical center’s sports medicine program is one of the best in the nation and a leader in concussion studies for the NFL. I know students that have been placed with pro teams in the city and have stuck with them for their careers. Pitt also has unbelievable facilities. Google the UPMC Sports Performance Complex. They get pro athletes from all over coming there for treatment.

The athletic training program rankings were:

 1. Troy State
 2. Illinois
 3. Southern Miss
 4. Florida
 5. Pitt
 6. Indiana State
 7. Wilmington College
 8. Western Virginia
 9. Minnesota State
 10. Southern Illinois

Sounds good. My friend is in the athletic training program here and likes it a lot. I certainly appreciate you saying we have a big sports program. I think being from Washington State will definitely help you, and as it stands, you’ll probably get some money, but getting a 30+ on the ACT will significantly increase your chances at a big scholarship. PM me if you have any questions about the school :)

You won’t get aid at Michigan or San Diego State.

You’re unlikely to get much at BU, Northeastern, UConn and probably the other OOS publics.

If you need much aid, your focus needs to be on schools you are in state for.

Besides UW and whitworth there are not many in state schools that i would be happy attending. But thanks redroses and dionetchristmas

I understand, this is a problem for many. The issue is that there are basically 2 ways (other than having parents that can pay) most kids get to leave the in state low prices: have top stats and attend a school that meets need or have top stats and go for a school offering great merit aid.

There are few out of state options for kids without a big budget that don’t have great stats. Public schools save their big dollars for in state kids and top OOS students and schools that meet need are high stats schools in general.

Okay thanks redroses. I am really going to work senior year for a 4.0 ( it has been a goal to get 4.0 atleast one semester in high school, not that this will make a big difference its just a personal thing) and what should i try to aim for om the act that would help me get some aid OOS

You have to look at it school by school. SD has absolutely no aid if you’re OOS no matter what your score. Schools like Alabama give near full rides for a 32 and good GPA.

The bottom line is the school needs to be a safety if you’re looking for significant merit aid.

Okay. Bumpp

anyone else?

Bump. anymore advice?

What is your current list now? And what is your current ACT (not what you hope)?
