How does self studying an AP look to admissions?

I'm self studying European History this year and I'm planning to get at least a 4 on the exam- does it matter at all to admissions if I do this?

I’m not sure, I actually had the same question because I’m self studying for AP Human Geography. I would think that they would be impressed that you took the initiative to do something on your own, and get a good score. Just so you know, I took AP Euro at my school last year and received a 4.

I self-studied AP Psychology and received a 4, and I was recently admitted to Cornell. Though my anecdote might not reflect on the system as a whole, I can at least say that it didn’t seem to hurt me, and I can’t imagine why it wouldn’t look impressive that you were able to do well on an AP exam.

Are you currently a sr?

@entemom- No, I’m a junior

Then it’s a positive as they will be able to see that you self-studied and your score. Don’t ask me how much it will impact your admissions though, no one knows that ;).
