How does the psychology program at Bowdoin compare to other top LACs?

I am looking into applying to a few liberal arts colleges and wanted to know which ones have a good psychology program. I have been looking into Bowdoin for sometime now, and it has been at the top of my list for many reasons, but I am unsure how their psychology program compares to other LACs.

bowdoin’s psychology department is very, very good. i assume you’re familiar with alfred kinsey. he received his degree in psychology (as well as biology) from bowdoin. honestly, psychology at any of the top liberal arts colleges will be great.

if you like the nescac/northeast vibe, look into hamilton (where b.f. skinner attended, though his degree was in english), conncoll (i’ve heard great things about the psych department, and they also have a behavioral neuroscience department, which is something i found interesting), bates, williams, and swarthmore.

if you’re okay with going south, davidson and rhodes are good options (the latter offering merit aid).

if you’re down with the midwest, macalester, oberlin, kenyon, grinnell, and carleton are fantastic options (all except the latter offer merit aid).

if you don’t mind looking west, pomona’s a really good choice.

You might seek to study in a department that offers instruction, either through full courses or course elements, in the major areas of modern psychology: clinical, biological/physiological, cognitive, developmental, social, personality, educational and sensory. With respect to some college suggestions, look into Bates, Wesleyan, Hamilton, Vassar, Pitzer and, if female, Smith, Mt. Holyoke and Barnard.

Look into Vassar. They have a good psychology major.

Vassar had the first Cognitive Science major in the world. They have a lot of really interesting course offerings. I would recommend them. Also, their financial aid is amazing, I just got a full ride!
