First- Does UofSC recalculate a students transcript they submit? And if they do, where can I find their information? Our high school uses a 7 point scale (where as a 92% is considered a B). We have Regular CP classes and then in order it is Accelerated, Honors and then AP. I know typically its .5 extra for Honors and 1 point higher for AP, what about this accelerated? Lets say hypothetically a students grades in core classes are:
90- AP Class
91- Accelerated
90 Honors
95 Regular CP class
you might want to check your transcript/school profile for how your accelerated classes are weighted. at my school they are weighted the same as an AP course, but it might vary between high schools.
So it looks like Accelerated is .5 higher then CP, Honors is 1.0 higher then CP and AP is 1.5 higher then CP.
I guess my question is- how does UofSC do it? Does anyone know?
Schools are set up to recalibrate. They need to fit this reason - there’s so many grading systems.
If you can figure out your gpa unweighted on a 4 point scale and then weighted with .5 for honors and one for ap, you can compare.
By the #s they are showing it appears this is the formula.
But you can call admissions and ask.
Exactly
Wouldn’t be surprising if they used something like what is described at https://ed.sc.gov/tests/tests-files/eocep-files/uniform-grading-policy-february-2018/ .
Figured I’d ask here in case anyone knew but thanks!
Is that for public schools or do you think that apply to college too? Looks like they have CP, Honors and AP but no accelerated listed.
99% sure this is what they use. I looked into it last year and remember this chart.
No “accelerated” in SC public schools (if a district here uses that term it would get honors coding).
Many colleges look at the weighted GPA based on the scale that produced it along with an unweighted 4.0 GPA. SC public High School Transcripts show both along with class rank.
So I asked admissions and they said they do not give any extra consideration for “Accelerated” classes. They weight them the same as college prep. They only give extra weight to Honors and AP.
