How effective are the CTY online courses for APs?

I'm planning to self-study AP chem for next May and was wondering whether the online courses through cty were helpful enough to get a 5.

For those of you who have used CTY online courses for AP exams, did they help with the exams? Did you receive the scores you wanted? Did they actually teach you anything?

and specifically for AP chem, how were the labs in the online course? Do they help understand the lab or are they more direction, get the things done-oriented?

If all I fails, should I self-study with just prep books like Barrons and PR? Will knowing those books help me get a 5?

Thanks for your replies.

I can’t totally say much for CTY’s online courses, but I’m going to be studying for my SAT II partly using a you tube channel called khanacademy. They’re these free segments tutoring you with lectures/experiments regarding chem and a few other science topics. That and PR’s book.

But yeah, the videos look good along with some good self study guides in lieu of the class, I’d suggest it

^khanacademy is amazing
