I was thinking of taking the AP Psych exam and originally, I was planning on self studying it but I've recently discovered the CTY Distance program and I was wondering which would look good on apps.

Hm. I actually took AP Psych through CTY Online, but it was over the summer (2006) and my summer was too insane for me to devote much time to the course (another story). So I didn’t take the AP test, since I had no idea that was a stupid thing to do, and I can’t comment too much on that.

But I also took Calc BC through CTY Online this past summer, and I have to say it was worth it for its own benefit. In terms of the AP test, I’m finding practice tests ridiculously easy. But through the rigor of the course I learned so much about math in general that I think I’m way stronger in trig now than when I was a trig student.

So I have praise for CTY Online, but take that with a grain of salt, since I’m not sure how much it corresponds to Psych, which I actually don’t think was quite that great - after all, I was afraid of the AP test.

I’m sort of thinking you’d probably be fine self-studying AP Psych and if you still want to do CTY Online you might be better off taking a math or writing course that’s harder to self study (writing isn’t for AP credit but I hear it’s good, and it would help you a lot academically).
