How far is too far?

Just to clarify- I mean, the KIDS process of looking at schools and the KIDS managing their own expectations (not us adults)

Great post, Mussels! So glad your son is loving Thacher. Our son truly considers it “home” now (which definitely tugs a bit at my heart, but makes me so thankful that he found the right place for him). He continues to grow and mature in ways I could have never imagined. (My never-sang-before kid is now singing bass in the chamber choir, and is in a barbershop quartet!!)

One great perk of sending your kids to boarding school that I never expected was that I also get to make new friends! I had the pleasure to meet both Mussels and PatronYork at Thacher family weekend, as well as catch up with many other fellow sophomore parents that I had met last year. Maybe it’s because Thacher is such a small school (30 freshman boys & 30 freshman girls), or maybe it’s because the “mission/culture” of the school appeals to such a specific subset of students/parents . . . but my husband I have had the wonderful gift of making several new, great friends as a result of our son’s attendance at Thacher.

Thanks @Itsnothogwarts and Freshlook. Glad I could help and best of luck.

And @Mountainhiker. We feel the same way! Was so lovely to see you at Family Wknd. Who would have thunk BS would offer we parents the chance to make such great new friends, too!

I am one of the Thacher parents. My son just started this year as 9th grader.

If you need to know more about Thacher, please let me know anytime. You have also such helpful parents as Thacherparent and Mountainhiker. Mussels is also Thacher mom. (I met Mussels and Mountainhiker a few weeks ago at the parent weekend. It was an amazing feeling to have met them offline)

@mountainhiker, I was so happy for your DS that night. He is such a fine gentleman now and I was very envious.

how’s cranbrook compares to Northfield Mount Herman? I heard lots of Chinese in NMH now…

Great video. He sounds like a great guy. My daughter is applying to Thacher and a couple other BS, but Thacher is by far her favorite. Any advice? We live in Texas, so it’s a bit of a stretch, but her father and I support it.
