Read C9, fewer Emory students submit SAT than ACT. http://opb.emory.edu/documents/data/Emory-Common-Data-Set-2017-2018.pdf
@Cavitee, In the past that wasn’t the case. It its still very close. 57% to 64%. Also you’re giving incomplete information. On the new concordance table a 33 can be as high as a 1480. If again Emory says the median is a 1500 and the average is a 1480, then one should have no problem believing the numbers as they all correspond.
Might want to reread my post about the new concordance before stating I’m “giving incomplete information” because the range for a 33 (1450-1480) is in there.
So, basically GT and Emory look like equals from a standardized testing standpoint for the incoming class. I have seen a few dust-ups on CC about the two schools, but they are both great schools (I love both schools although I give Emory a slight edge). My son’s guidance counselor told me that Emory has been slightly more holistic in her mind, especially with URMs at the lower data points at our school in comparison to GT (A 1250 SAT URM will get into Emory sometimes, but doesn’t normally get into GT anymore unless he/she is an recruited athlete was her comment). Our school has had great success getting into both Emory and GT and maybe you go to a “feeder school” as well. OP, Emory may be a reach or low reach (if your school does have a pipeline), but apply regardless, because your chance to get into Emory is 0% without an application.
