How fast do dorms go?

I got into Cal Poly as an incoming freshman for fall 2013 and I REALLY want a social dorm… I would ideally love to be in Sierra Madre or Yosemite!

However, I am still waiting to hear from a few other colleges. Cal Poly is I think the top of my list and I can’t really see myself going anywhere else. I’m 99.9999% sure that I want to attend Cal Poly, but my parents keep on saying that I should wait to hear back from everywhere before I accept their offer, which makes sense.

I’m worried about the dorms though! How quickly do they go for incoming freshman? Will all the good spots be gone by the end of March? How popular are Sierra Madre/Yosemite and how quickly do the spaces fill up?

Thanks!!!

Yosmite and Sierra Madre are pretty popular, but I wouldn’t think they’re all that much more in demand than the red bricks. I think that as long as you apply for housing by the end of April, you have a fairly good chance at getting into one or the other. You might be placed in a triple though. However, the rooms in the towers are more spacious than the red bricks, and I think that even then, they tried to mostly convert the larger corner rooms into triples. So even if you are in a triple in the towers, you won’t be super cramped - can’t say the same for the red bricks though.
