How fast does Traditions (East or West) fill up?

I have been trying to get my S to get people together to submit an application for Traditions for Fall 2016 but he is really dragging his feet. He says he has talked to a couple other guys but they haven’t done anything yet. He says no one else (other freshman like him) is even talking about it. I know the application has been up for several weeks now but does anyone here have any idea whether a group of 2-4 still has a chance or if it’s already probably too late? What about an individual?

Ours went to Campus Lodge rather than Traditions. Earlier is better for all of them from what we hear. Another boy we know did not get organized soon enough and ended up with random roommates. It has not worked out well for him.

Thanks for the info @Torveaux .

He finally submitted a housing application so the random roommates is what worries me but that is exactly the situation he is in now since the other guys he had talked to decided to stay in the dorm. I think he still could add a roommate choice to his housing application or withdraw with refund until May 1st.

BTW, he says he put his first choice as National Merit Community in Traditions East. I didn’t know that existed.

Haven’t heard of Campus Lodge, but I will look it up.

Campus Lodge is not a university property. They have a shuttle to campus. Close enough to bike. Each room has its own bathroom and locks on the doors (deadbolts). They are each individually responsible for the rent. The living spaces are about what you would expect for an apartment building. They share a kitchen, living room and laundry closet (small washer and dryer). They also have a small enclosed porch/patio. The vast majority of the tenants are college students (not sure if it is ‘all’ or not).

Hi Torveaux - my (current) freshman and his friends chose Campus Lodge as well.

I guess they will be neighbors, of sorts. S1 will be entering his 3rd year. He and his 3 roommates will be back in the same apartment next year. They got an early-commit deal. He has not had any complaints to us anyway.

I’m glad to hear they haven’t had any complaints and are choosing to come back. The complex looks nice, but I just got to drive by it one day. I have to admit I was a little disappointed when I saw how far it was from campus, but they just shrug and say no big deal. Does your son take the shuttle or drive to campus?

I guess the other guys changed their mind about staying in the dorm at pretty much the last minute. I suggested Campus Lodge and they looked at it but decided to go with University Greens. Not great reviews but not really worse than Traditions either. At least he will be with guys he already knows and they got the lease done in time for DS to get $200 refund from housing (not the $40 application fee however).

@MansfieldTxMom - my son takes the shuttle or bikes most of the time. He does not have a car. A couple of his roommates have cars, so I suppose he may ride with them at times, too. 3 of the 4 are from North Texas, so they often ride home together for vacations and such.
