japanmedlover, You will probably get a great fin aid package, unless there is a college savings account for you, or some other large savings that your mom has. Retirement accounts not included.

...26k for 5 people. Am I the lowest?

Six figures for a family of 5. It's towards the lower end of the spectrum considering six figures ranges from 100k to 999k. Sounds like some of the other posters in this thread have parents similar to mine in that they don't spend a huge amount.

About $15,000 for 3 people, but I have 2 siblings who are in college. So, pretty bad. Being a starving artist rarely pays off.

We've been in the US for 9 years. $130000 ish combined now (about $30000 when we first came here). But we have VERY little in savings due to legal fees spent in the first few years.

About $110,000 combined for 6 people; 2 in high school (a year apart), one in middle school, and one in pre school.

We are so madly in debt though (most of it goes to the house).

Uhh... I qualify for free lunch.
Mum's had a forced retirement not too long ago.
Dad has been on disability for 5-6 years now.

Money's bad. Especially in the Michigan economy that I live in.

Hmm, around 600K, (but that's before the taxes take away half of my family's income, stupid Democrats)

Anyway, I'd say I'm financially stable while I'm in high school.....there's that small matter of my parents refusing to pay for college or to cosign any loans for college.

Then I'll be a lot less financially stable, (just in my mind though) cause on paper I will still be pretty loaded.

i'm pretty financially stable. although, my parents have 8 children (we are NOT mormon :)). i'm getting nervous as i approach the time for APs, SATs, college apps, and COLLEGE (rising sophomore) because i will probably be the one in my family who goes to the most expensive college. i really want this scholarship that pays for ALL of the tuition, books, room and board, EVERYTHING!!! I want to go to the east coast, so that would definitely help.

I am Bill Gate's illegitimate son.

Hmm I wonder which of the 3 households I've been in the past year should I discuss lol. Either way I get free lunch, fee waivers, and most definite need based aid coming my way.

We have such varieties in income.

Woo, CC isn't just dominated by the rich.

Just kidding (:

Very hard working parents:

Went from low income (borderline poverty) to upper upper class

My mum has a city job and so does my step dad
my dad pays child support

We are stable enough to afford vacations, nice Christmas presents and SAT prep courses/books

but there is no way in hell that they are paying for my college education

pretty stable, at least until med school rolls around....

BTW it's great to see that people with <50K incomes (met on fb or cc) have broadband internet...it's a good sign of how accessible the information age has become.

oh and japanmedlover: HYP and S will all give you a full ride for sure. (Stanford gives free tuition to anyone making less than 100K)

my parents are fairly stable 6 figure salary with lots of assets, buy I am not that financially stable. I have like 10,000 saved up from various things.

I always thought the majority of people with large families were catholic.

Mom makes <50k, Dad makes about that or a little more. If that's the line we're going by. Total income probably the 80-100k range. Anyway, no matter what I consider us very stable as I'm an only child and we own an apartment so there's money for vacations and things. Not enough with the prices of college today but well off compared to people I know.

my parents make somewhere between 60k-80k combined. my only sibling is in college, and they refuse to pay more than 5k a year for me to go.

My father makes 100k - 150k per year, not exactly sure how much but it is in that range.
