CC's College Search list claims that this school is not Gay Friendly.
I'm not necessarily looking for a large and vibrant GLBT community in a school, but whether or not the majority of the students are overall tolerant of the gay population (whether or not there is a lot of discrimination or superiority complexes towards gays).
Can someone who goes there/knows a good amount of info about the school/students tell me whether or not this is a tolerant school in regards to the gay community?

I’ve found it a tolerant place for the gay community, I haven’t encountered any sort of blatant discrimination / superiority complexes against gays at all. Pitt is in a city and in general cities are more welcoming of gay people. The Rainbow Alliance (GLBT group here), is apparently very active and well funded though I haven’t been to any meetings so I can’t say anything about it firsthand.

I’m actually interested in knowing where on CC you found something like this since it sounds like an oddly subjective thing that shouldn’t (and can’t) be answered well on a school’s listing.

That’s incredibly bizarre that CC said that about us. I’ve never encountered any sort of real discrimination against gays here Pitt. A know a couple people who are gay and they love it here. One of my professors this semester is gay and everyone thought he was awesome.

I mean, I’m sure there are a few ignorant jerks here, but I’m pretty sure most public schools are like that and they definitely don’t reflect the majority who are very welcoming.
