How good is Computer Science at UT Dallas?

I was rejected by Cornell ED and deferred by UChicago EA. I’m waiting for Oxford and Ivy League RD decisions. I applied to UTD as a safety and got in for CS and got the AES Honors scholarship which brings down my COA to ~5k a year. I do expect to get into the CS Honors thing as I have some solid extracurriculars and research exp related to computer science, but it’s uncertain.

I’m an international student from India. I have some severe financial constraints and I can’t afford more than 10k a yr anyway and so it’s unlikely I’ll get into any of my RD schools with enough aid (need-aware admissions).

How good is the uni and how good is the CS program?

UT Dallas is the best computer and engineering school in Texas next to UT-Austin. Plus, you have a major advantage. Dallas is one of the country’s top hubs for tech jobs, which means HUGE internship opportunities and job prospects. Plus, it’s a popular school for international students. The only downside is that it’s not known for being exciting. It’s more of a nerdy commuter school. In the end, where you went to college is not as important as what you know. Employers are only interested in whether you can do the job.
