I’m considering attending tufts in the fall. I want to major in Electrical engineering and possibly a double major in applied mathematics as well. I was wondering how good is the EE program at tufts? I’m considering attending grad school as well for engineering and was wondering if it’ll affect my chances in attending a top engineering school? Thank you!
@retiredfarmer and @ucbalumnus are really your best bet for engineering info.
Tufts in general is pretty much world class in everything.
bump?
What did you decide?
same here considering tufts engineering but ME and a minor in econ. so any help @retiredfarmer and @ucbalumnus .
Is it recognized among employers as cwru, Cornell engineering or sth?
I think the founder of Ebay was a Tufts EE.
The founder of Ebay (Pierre Omidyar)was a Tufts CS major.
Arguably the most impactful engineer of the 20th century (Vannevar Bush) was a Tufts EE major (batchelors and masters) with a Phd from MIT.
The father of cybernetics (Norbert Weiner) was a Tufts math major (Cornell MS, Harvard Phd)
Former CEO of Dupont (Ellen Kullman) was a Tufts ME major
Former president of Yahoo (Susan Decker) was a Tufts CS major
The head of the EPA in the Obama administration (Gina Mc Carthy) was a Tufts Environmental Health Engineering major (Masters degree)
To answer the original question on this post, you will have no problem getting into a top graduate program if you do well. Top Phd programs tend to like more math, and research experience, so follow the guidance of your advisor.
Here are the reported grad school destinations for the EE class of 2018. Tufts EE and Engineering Management grad programs are popular, but Cornell, Stanford and UIUC are not bad alternatives
Cornell University PhD in Electrical Engineering Ithaca NY
Stanford University Masters Stanford CA

Bottom line. Tufts offers excellence in all of their majors. Most universities in the top few hundred and are accredited in engineering are going to be excellent. Tufts is near the top of that list.
