How good of a chance do I have?

I just finished sophomore year.
About a 3.8-3.9 GPA, honors classes freshman and soph. years.
Taking 4 AP classes next year
250 Community service hours
JV Football, Cross Country Skiing
Will play: Soccer, baseball, rifle team, 2 ROTC drill teams next year.
The only varsity teams I'll be on this year are the ROTC drill teams. I probably won't be on any varsity athletic teams except for football and that will be senior year. Will that count on my app if I get a V letter senior year?
Attended leadership seminar - HOBY, will attend more this upcoming year
Will go to leadership academy next month for two weeks (ROTC)
In National Honor Society, Z Club (community service)
Working on organizing my own community service events and clubs

And if this even matters, I live in Alaska which has the lowest population

whoops sorry for double post

Alaska helps you immensely. I'm from RI, which was kind of an advantage.

You'll have to see how your SAT's come out before you can make a serious judgement.

What branch of ROTC? I'm assuming it's JROTC as you're in high school. Is your unit an 'Honor Unit'?

If so, you'd be eligable for the ROTC nomination. Living in Alaska, it doesn't sound like you should have much a problem getting one with such a low population, but the more nominations you have, the better.

One disadvantage to Alaska is that it is heavily military, therefore has a high application rate for the size of the population. AnonyMust, if you would like to PM me I would be happy to give you our perspective on the process. Good Luck!

If our experience is typical I would strongly recommend you stay with varsity school sports, do something to show leadership and take SAT prep course.

Peace,
