How good should a person be at math in order to have a business major?

I'm thinking about majoring in accounting; however, I am not the best at math. I am taking AP Calculus this year though. Should I major in accounting or a different business degree? I really don't know what I want to do with my life. I'm a high school senior by the way.

It depends on how far you want to go and what school you go to. In general having a good head for numbers is needed, but you definitely don’t need to be some kind of numbers genius. Not all business majors require a large amount of math knowledge, but most programs do have you taking basic calculus and some middle level math courses and statistics. While I don’t know how skilled you are, if you find calculus easy you should be fine for business, if you find it extremely difficult you might want to consider a business major that isn’t as math heavy. (I believe Finance, Accounting, and Economics are the most heavily math oriented)

You need to know basic arithmetic for Accounting. You may need to take a watered down business calc class but it’ll be a joke.

Accounting isn’t math heavy at all. You need to do well in calculus so that it doesn’t tank your gpa. Math skills will also help in required upper level economics courses. If all you can do is survive calculus, you can still succeed in accounting.
