AP Stats
AP Computer Science
AP Environmental Science
Honors Precalculus
I am planning to take these classes in school next year and I am wondering how much work will be involved in each of these classes and how hard they are. Also can someone list these classes from the easiest to hardest? I think this is a manageable schedule for me with English and band as well.
It depends on your interest. ENvironmental is the easiset of the science Ap’s. Stats is algebra based. CS is in the dark ages according to my son. Honors precalc just moves at a faster pace.
If you are going to be a junior with this schedule it should be pretty easy. APES is definitely the easiest, Stats isn’t that hard, Ap comp sci A is pretty easy, nothing i can really say for precalc it’s just the next step in math.
AP Stats – you’re basically plugging stuff into the calculator and analyzing data — not that hard
AP Computer Science – programming stuff – might be time consuming
AP Environmental Science – never took it
Honors Precalculus – probably time consuming cuz you do the work by hand
I’m going into my senior year
Also, this is going to be my first time taking AP classes.
Make sure you aren’t swamped with the hidden AP class: college apps. Finish those in advance.
Is it CS principles or CS A/programming?
AP Computer Science A I believe
Do you have experience programming?
No
Then AP CS A will be hard. The other two AP’s will be okay.
Make sure to evaluate your ability to get a B or higher well, because if you fall to a C some private universities may rescind, and all universities rescind for a D or F (or crime or cheating). So make sure your grades remain “in range”.
Okay thanks for the tip. I will try to learn some computer science stuff when I have free time to get a knowledge into it. The teacher said no experience of computer science was needed to take the class.
I’m currently in honors pre calc as a senior. It’s not so bad, but I have a teacher who doesn’t give much homework, just whatever you didn’t finish. It is a lot of handwritten work to actually work out and understand what is happening in the problem. We don’t use calculators as much as alg 2 honors probably because you can’t really plug some of this stuff into calculators. Also he likes teaching more wih the paper pencil way, which is harder than plugging numbers though some students complain, why can’t we just use calculators? Haha. It helps understand the problems way better though.
^ because it forces you to go through the reasoning which is what you need to really understand AND because it’ll help with the SAT.
I’m doing it next year and there is just one teacher at our school for honors precalc that doesn’t really teach and he is hard so if I get him, I will plan to switch out his class. We have tests in honors Algebra 2 that my teacher doesn’t let us use graphing calculators and sometimes we can use graphing calculators if it doesn’t involve graphing stuff. We just can’t use calculators on things that will involve graphing stuff cause we need to all show that we know how to graph stuff on our own without relying on a calculator.
