I'll let you know on Duke, Cornell, and Penn next week ;-)

well if your really really rich like donating 5 mil for a new building or your some type of popculture icon it would be easy i.e. the olsen twins or lead singer from weezer who went to harvard any other average joe you got be like straight A+s since they look down on you if you have - or reg. A and have perfect test scores and mind boggling ECs so id say extremely hard

I'm sorry, but what a terrible post. The Olsen Twins go to NYU, not an Ivy. Rivers Cuomo (the lead singer for Weezer) went to Harvard BEFORE he started the band Weezer, and BEFORE he was a popculture icon.

And to say you need all A+'s, and not A-'s or A's to get into ivies is ridiculous. Please, please, please don't post about topics if you don't know what you're saying is even a little bit true.

Depends on who you are.
e.g. if you're a mathematician MIT will be slightly easier to get into than Harvard, but if you're a very humanities-oriented person with little regard for math and science MIT would be much harder than Harvard

HMC's admit rate has fallen to 28% this year... an 8% since last year (thanks to a 31% increase in applicants in the last 2 years)

But, acceptance rate can be misleading...as it is with HMC's case;
it has a self-selected applicant pool that is serious about math/science/engineering. Thus, the average applicant of HMC is very well qualified, even more so than the average applicant of, say Harvard. (Everyone applies to Harvard, no offense)

May I just point out that this thread is completely useless and a waste of time?
it doesnt matter if Yale had a 10% and Harvard a 9%-there are just too many factors into play, that render this thing that is going on stupid. i personally hate this, cuz if u wanna major in int rel then u will go to Brown or Harvard, but if u aspire to become an engineer u will go to MIT and so on. But that doesnt mean that cuz i didnt go to Harvard, u werent good enough or stuff. It is all subjective-so ranking is a filthy business

"*f you're a mathematician MIT will be slightly easier to get into than Harvard, but if you're a very humanities-oriented person with little regard for math and science MIT would be much harder than Harvard" -fizix

You have to be careful about stereotypes. Of course, while the majority of MIT students are math/science-oriented, there is a small, yet brilliant population of the applicant pool that applies to MIT with a predilection for the Humanities. Just as Harvard would love to admit some math/science geniuses to compete with such schools as MIT, so too does MIT want to admit some scholars. My dad went to MIT. It's not all completely pocket protectors and lab coats. Everybody has to complete Humanities requirements and so there are a lot of English and histrory teachers on campus that are just dying for a couple of student who actually care about the Humanities. I would imagine that an applicant with a solid background in the math and science areas who professed an interest in the Humanities would actually have a better shot of acceptance at MIT than at Harvard.

Juliard is the hardest school to get into...

lol even though no-one cares
