What's your take on the difficulty and satisfaction of this career?

How hard is accounting? If you can add, subtract, and apply percentages, you have the basic math for accounting. There are a lot of business rules to learn about standard ways to apply accounting as you get deeper into the coursework, of course.

If you get a lot of satisfaction out of getting the right answer on a math problem, you could find accounting satisfying as a career (that is one of the things I liked about it when I took it, I liked it when my solutions balanced!).

It is a solid career choice, too. You likely will definitely have employment and make a decent living at it. However, you may miss a lot of spring break vacations – accountants often work a lot of hours January thru mid-April, tax season.

@intparent Great response. Thanks so much.
