I'm going to BC next year and need to take calc for my major. I went to a top high school, but the highest level math I took was non-honors precalc with limits. I didn't take it seriously and only got a B+. (I'm not very interested in math)
I'm pretty worried about the difficulty of calculus next year and that I will be behind. Should I take a summer class or something, or will studying hard next year be enough?

It’s hard to answer how difficult it is because everyone’s different. I didn’t find it too difficult; I actually loved the class and the material, but just came out with terrible grades and got a B- in the course. I think it was more of my fault, and if I put in as much as one hour a week outside of the class to practice some problems, I could’ve easily reached an A. On the other hand, a friend of mine received a D in her Business Calc class (just watered down for business students rather than the one I took, which is the general calculus most engineers and math majors take).

Overall, I say you shouldn’t worry about it. If you absolutely want to get an A, then visit khan academy’s website and prepare yourself. No need to pay for anything.

I go to BC, and the calc class isn’t bad if you just pay attention and do the work. I only took pre-calc in hs, so I never had exposure to calc before.

I actually didn’t even take precalculus. I had no exposure to calculus and still was able to pass. I’m not saying I’m a genius or anything, but rather to give you more confidence that the math isn’t too bad.

Depends on you how hard it will appear. Just work hard regardless and you will be fine.
