The Fordham College Rose Hill honors program is pretty tough. I had eleven major papers this semester from the three honors classes, each having been based on countless pages of reading material. The professors are awesome though, so it makes it worth all of the effort.
Except for my calculus professor, my fordham instructors are THE BEST teachers I have ever had. It sounds corny, but I really must say that many of my Fordham classes have been life changing experiences.

If you’re motivated to do well, and you try to stick out from the rest of the class, you can do very well at Fordham. Go to office hours, even if you’re not struggling in the class. Sometimes you can get some really great stories about your professor’s life if you just try to have a conversation with them. Ask questions in class, because it keeps class more interesting, and the professors love them.

The biggest advice, lifestyle-wise, I can give is to get enough sleep. Teachers notice when you’re sleeping in class, and missing a class because you slept in can be detrimental to your grade. If you like to party and drink, save it for the weekends. Don’t bring a TV.

Yes, Fordham is hard. It’s college- it’s much harder than high school. I was salutatorian in my high school, and I’m fairly certain I won’t do that well here. But I still was able to pull of a really great 1st semester average. (And this was after getting some horrific midterm grades- I improved my gpa by .8 points between midterms and finals.)

My first finals week was pretty crazy. All in all, I wrote about 40 pages of essays over two weeks. (But 4 out of the 5 classes I was taking were in the humanities. And writing that much is a lot easier than it sounds when you pace yourself.) But I’m getting used to things, and hopefully I’ll have more time for volunteer work and extracurriculars (oh, and a little relaxation,) next semester ;)
