How hard is it to become a resident advisor at Tulane?

I’ve always really liked the idea of becoming an RA for multiple reasons. I know it’s a hard job and the selection process is pretty intense but I wanted to know if it’s really very difficult to get chosen or do most good students get the job if they are willing to commit? Also, do they care about gender(I’ve heard some people say that they prefer guys?!)? What about international students?
Thank you!

It’s pretty competitive. My son was an RA Sophomore year and this year he is a Senior Desk Service Coordinator. You can become a Desk Worker freshman year, be sure to do that! They always needs lots of students for this job. It can be demanding because you have to work night shifts and weekends. Get to know your own RA’s so they can serve as a reference for you and you’ll have a better understanding of the job. Stay out of trouble and keep your GPA up!

@dolphnlvr6 thank you so much for the helpful advice!
