I am a EECS at UB and i have a 2.8. at this years graduation I knew 1 guy with a 3.8 in EE, he was the only one above 3.5. The Majority of people I know are below 3.0.

EE at UB is not easy at all, probably the hardest major at the school.

oh my god,it's so terrible.
it's extremely diffcult!

Um. For some reason I find that hard to believe. UB has enough people that it is impossible for only one person to get over a 3.5.

how many people are there in EE?
why do professors give students ultra-low GPA?

i586 is a troll. don't listen to him.

the EE department has about 250 kids

The CSE department has 105 kids.

The school has 27000 students.

As to jason, Its a public school so lower grades are expected. If you want high inflated grades, UB is not for you.

Troll or not, i586 has a point. I was an engineering major for three years at UB, and it is hard as hell to keep a 3.0 G.P.A. average. In many introductory level classes, there are serious curves applied to final grades. Physics 107-108/158 and Statics, which all SEAS students must take, are notorious for this. Getting a 3.0 may be doable freshaman year, but in the third and fourth semesters, Engineering becomes exponentially more difficult.

graduate with a GPA below 3.0,what can I do with it? Graduate school?job?

Like I have said in a earlier thread, just because you have a low gpa, doesn't mean you are going to be any less of a engineer than somebody with a higher gpa. Actually its possible the opposite is true.

alot of the High gpa guys are just good at reading books and reciting them on tests. They aren't real engineers.

Most engineering students at UB start off low and go lower, but then in there late junior and senior year get alot of A's and there gpa rebounds.

Thank you,i586!

How hard will it be to maintain a 3.0 GPA for a Provost Scholarship? My son is entering the EAS school this fall. As a UB graduate, will he be in a better position to apply to UB Grad. School?

I realize it's not far into the year yet, but how hard has it been to get decent grades in the EE major?
