Is it easier to get into the school itself or the Mentorship program?
Here’s what I will say to your question. I haven’t heard of anyone that applied for the Mentorship program. Students offered the Mentorship with Spring Admissions typically have much higher stats than needed to get into American. Their applications/resumes demonstrate they would be able to manage an internship in the fall while attending classes and would be emotionally fine not having the traditional freshman experience. These students have other university options with excellent merit aid. I hate to say this but it seems the spring admission students also, on paper, appear to be able to pay full price to attend American. I just heard yesterday that American bases merit aid on need based.
American seems concerned with the admissions yield, so if there’s any chance AU might not be a student’s first choice, these students are waitlisted or offered mentorship/spring admissions when $0 merit aid is offered to Mentorship/Spring Admissions and usually there is $0 merit aid left when offered spot off Waitlist - meaning these students pay full price for all years attending American. Personally I’d rather be on the waitlist (unless I only wanted to attend AU) than the Mentorship/Spring because at least you have more time to make your decision even after you say “Please I want to come to American. Take me off the waitlist.”
