How hard is it to get into IB?

I'm just wondering, am i doomed? The field seems really competitive although i have my heart set on it.

I'm going to be a freshman this year in the Carroll school of management at BC, majoring in finance. I realize that in order to get into a top grad school for my MSF i will probably need a high GPA,and 3-4 years of work experience after getting the BA, and that's all right with me.

But my questions:

What are my chances of getting into a top grad school that will send me on the fast track to IB?

If i don't get into a top grad school (or even go back to grad school?) do i still have a shot at IB?

Thanks in advance, i realize it's early for me to be thinking about this but I am very curious, lol.

bumpp???

???

Drop out of Boston College and go to Columbia School of General Studies or UPenn College of Liberal and Professional Studies. This way, once you are admitted, you can network with your classmates and the Alumni who are working in investment banking. You still have to work your butt off. But the rewards are well worth it from both schools that has a long history with placing its graduates on Wall Street.

i can’t get into columbia or Upenn though lol

Begin developing relationships at a young age. Networking is not about “getting jobs” - it’s about building long-term relationships with people. While BC is not a bad school, it is probably not targeted by many investment banks (I think you guys have a couple). Start building relationships, demonstrate your interest in finance, and start taking initiative to look for internships.

valueinvesting

I’m not getting what you are getting at. How do we build long-term relationships? How does this start? I’m sorry if I sound so dense, but I think bulding a long-term relationship is easier said than done.

Sorry - I thought that was understood. Start with your parents’ friends and then use your resources at your University (alumni).

And if that fails?

Then have fun at Burger King :)

I feel like everyone on these boards think if you don’t get a job in IB then your life is ruined. I assume BC will give you loads of opportunities, correct? it is a top B school
