Hey
I'm an international studnet who got into UIUC as an undeclared major.
At first I just chose undeclared as my major since I wasn't sure what I want to major in.
Currently, I'm planning to major in business but I heard it is hard to get into business major in the 2nd year.
How hard is it? i heard that gpa needs to be 3.8 to get into business. is it true??

i'm also considering UW-seattle, UW-madison, n UCSD. which schl would be the best choice? I chose undelcared for all the schls.

For those at UIUC who applied for transfer to business last year, they admitted about 50% and of those admitted the GPAs were: 3.81-4.0: 32%; 3.61-3.8: 29%; 3.41-3.6: 30%; 3.30-3.4: 5%; 3.29 and below: 4%. Note that those rejected included some with a 3.81 or better GPA because GPA is not itself determinative since they do a full file review and essays are important. You get only one chance to transfer to business, at end of freshman year into sophomore year.

It would be pretty easy if you show that you cared and made an effort. Pretty much everyone I knew that wanted to be in business got into business…including myself :D

I don’t know where you heard the 3.8 gpa / international student from but I certainly hope it is not my old chance thread. That is just one instance. You shouldn’t compare yourself to other international students. You should just do your best with your studies and definitely get involved in UIUC. Join extracurricular activities you want to do and not just the ones that every other international student is joining.
