If I wanted to take the Seal of Biliteracy test in Spanish would I have to be fluent? I’m in IB Spanish SL and am already struggling and worried about the test for that class, is getting the seal harder or easier than the IB test? Also is it even worth it? Do colleges actually care? And if I failed it would anyone be able to find out?
Hard / easy can be in the eye of the beholder, but 1) nobody will ever know whether you took it or not unless you tell them and 2) in itself it is not a big deal in college admissions. Your mark in the actual class is be much more important. Good luck!

I think it depends on the state you are in. Where I live, getting the seal isn’t just a test. Students also have to provide a portfolio of work and complete a project (at our school, it is an oral presentation graded by teachers from other schools).

The answer: not very
