I was wondering, despite the incredibly high retention rate of first years, if it’s difficult to transfer from Bucknell if one doesn’t fit. Let’s say by March that the student doesn’t fit into the social scene and want to transfer somewhere else, does Bucknell provide what’s needed easily?

Thanks.

Furthermore, is it possible to transfer after the first semester. I do know there are schools who accept transfer students heading into the second semester. Is it doable from Bucknell? If so, do you only pay one semester's tuition?

im somewhat concerned that youre worried about transferring already! that said, the only thing you need to transfer from bucknell, or any college, is an official university transcript. transcripts are very easy to obtain (you can even get one online if you fax them your signature), though they cost something like $5. you can get a transcript at any time.

more importantly, it is essential that you give any school you attend a fair chance. the least successful students are the ones who show up to a college not wanting to be there. its very easy to not enjoy yourself when you dont want to enjoy yourself. and its even easier to not get good grades. bucknell, podunk state u and harvard all have wonderful things to provide their students... and in few cases are they going to show up at your dorm room. youve got to go out and find them regardless of where you are.

Eric, I hear yeah. I'd be a bit apprehensive of no matter what college/university I was choosing to attend. That said, I will come with an open, optimistic viewpoint and make the best of it.

But what I was asking was, that let's say I wanted to transfer mid-year my sophomore year (for whatever reason). Is that possible? And if it is, do you still pay the Bucknell full-year tuition?

as i previously mentioned, the only thing you need from bucknell in order to transfer is an official transcript, which you can request at any time. so yes, you can transfer mid-semester, mid-year, mid-finals, whenever you want.

as for fees, theyre paid on a semester basis. you would only pay for the fall semester if you decided to leave the university over winter break. i know theres a partial refund policy for those who leave mid-semester, but im not sure what it is.
