I somehow got in with a 3.2 UW GPA(3.5 Weighted) for Biology. I didn’t take a math class senior year. I didnt think my personal statements were that good since I asked my friend who took AP English to help me write it. How hard is biology at UC and considering my ok-ish grades how hard is UCSB academically?
I know I cheated a little but I got in UCSB so who cares, I think I am pretty ready for UCSB this fall.

No offense but you seem to be making a lot of excuses to explain your grades. That might be reasonable in high school, but college professors can be worse and majority of them are not lenient at all. Just a reminder. Ucsb do tend to pick people who are interesting and do well all around, so i think they did make the right decision in choosing you. Bio majors have a heavy course load, such as gen chem, chem labs, physics+labs, organic chemistry+labs, 2 bio classes+labs, and math for the first 2 years. Bio department try hard to prevent people from entering bio department so intro bio classes will be a weed out classes. Honestly it depends on you. I think if you focus on classes and work hard, youll succeed. Ive seen some of my friends with mediocre grades from high school do well in college. They turned everything around and studied really hard in college. Hope you love UCSB if you do get to decide! Welcome!

Yo me and you in the same boat LOL. I knew the TAs to all my classes and they would HOOK me up. I got a 4.1 gpa but an 1880 SAT.

Real talk, I ain’t tryna come to UCSB and study till like 12 am every night. I’m deciding to do this or UCR since I have a friend there and he said classes are cake over there since no competition/nobody gives AF.

So yeah, big decisions.
