Currently my school is in the process of registering for 11th grade classes. I have about a week to finalize my schedule, and I am majorly stressing out! My goal is to get as much out of high school as I possibly can, and ultimately, get into an Ivy League, Stanford, or Northwestern. I have always done extremely well in school, and am really wanting to challenge myself for next year. To use for reference, I have taken these classes this year(sophomore year) and gotten all A's:
AP Human Geography
AP Micro
AP Macro
Algebra 2 Honors
Spanish 3
Spanish 4
Chemistry Honors
American Literature Honors
English Literature Honors

This schedule was fairly easy for me to juggle along with my other activities- volunteering, two sports, piano, and
SAT/ACT prep. I think I could handle five APs with a lot of hard work, but I don't want to push myself to the point of failure. Here is what my schedule for next year looks like as of now:

AP Spanish
AP Calculus AB(or BC? Advice on this appreciated as well!)
AP Psychology
AP Language and Composition
AP Biology
College Personal Finance(an honors course)
Physics Honors

For anyone that has experience with any of these classes, what do you think? What was the workload? Would I still have any life outside of school, or would these classes consume my every waking moment? Please help me!!!

As a sophomore, I am taking these college courses:

AP European History
AP Microeconomics
AP Macroeconomics
UConn Microeconomics
UConn Macroeconomics
AP US History
AP Human Geography
AP Physics B
UConn General Physics 1
UConn General Physics 2
AP Psychology
Philosophy at a local community college

I haven’t found that to be too bad, and I am taking other honors and normal courses in addition to that.

Thank you! Are you taking all of these at your school, or are some of them online courses and such? I’m curious, because I’ve just started taking AP US History, Pre-Calculus Honors, and AP Environmental History online, and am wondering if anyone has any input on online courses.

Considering you’re on CC and you’re name is studyhard97 you can probably do it. Obviously it’ll be a bit stressful from time to time (at least at my school, teachers miraculously make everything due at the same time, and assign them on the same day) but as long as you like the classes you’re taking and don’t feel a little “lopsided” (little time for extra curriculars or free time), you’ll do great. I also think taking classes outside of school shows a bit of initiative, which is cool and colleges like that.

It’s totally normal for students to take a full schedule of APs these days. There are hundreds of juniors who have been and are in the same boat as you. If they survived I’m sure you will! Obviously taking so many rigorous courses will be really time consuming but it’s not impossible. Yes, take Calc BC. You’re likely to have a smaller class size and it will be easier to get help. Oh and Ivys Leagues are so overrated if you ask me. Taking a bunch of APs won’t get you in one necessarily. Just take the classes you are interested and enjoy high school. You probably won’t even need the credits in college for most of the AP classes you’re taking which makes it a big waste of time and money…

AP Language is a joke. AP Biology is a joke. AP Calculus AB and BC are a joke. AP Lang is a joke. I haven’t taken AP Spanish so I don’t know. Taking 5 APs aren’t as bad as you think. Time management is key to your success.

I imagine that taking 12 classes is mind-numbingly boring. Especially when you take some of the essentially same classes twice.

@OP

Classes are boring. Self study for AP tests in April and spend the rest of the year doing something interesting (research, job, internship, national award, etc.)

Okay, thank you all for your responses!! Not to completely change topics, as I’d still love advice and insight regarding my schedule, but does anyone else have anything to weigh in regarding AP Calculus AB vs BC?
