is it to get into MIT?
i believe im very talented in math science area
cuz i always perform well in those subjects
i guess what im asking is what do they look for

i think the two things that are hurting me are volunteer hours and EC.
i only have 10 hours and im becoming a junior

and for EC
i got band, this tutoring org in our school, and UIL(which is kinda like a math club)

You have to really, really stand out. The two applicants from our school, both valedictorians and math/science geniuses got rejected. I think you have to look like more than the typical nerd, look motivated and passionate and, above all, different.

So...since you're a junior, spend your remaining time in high school really pursuing your passions with incomparable drive, I guess.

They won't reject you simply because you don't have volunteer hours, but they won't accept you just because you have good grades and test scores. They are looking for students who go above and beyond, who are creative and passionate, and who want to change the world (cliche, and I know, but its true). Basically, do what you love to do, and let that shine through on your application. If they think all you do is sit at home and study, you're going to be in trouble (they do want top grades and scores, that's just not the only thing they want); just go out there and do something cool. MIT puts a lot of emphasis on creativity and passion to make a difference, as well as "the match" between you and MIT.
