I am a filmmaker working on a documentary on how College Confidential is affecting the admissions process for students, parents, and admissions professionals. We have interviewed senior counselor Sally Rubenstone and Dave Barry, who co-founded CC, and admissions deans and students from around the country. I’ve received permission from College Confidential to post this thread. We are going to be filming in the cities below on the dates listed. If you would be available, we would love to interview you! Reply to this thread and I will send you more details via PM.
I don’t want to be involved but just want to say that I hope you are covering the wide range of people and issues that appear on College Confidential, not just selective admissions. In fact, CC really isn’t all about selective admissions but offers, along with support for the stresses of college applications, peer advice for families dealing with a student being derailed in one way or the other, advice on health issues, and lists of schools that might offer a “fit” versus prestige, among many other topics.
My children had already been accepted to the colleges of their choice when I started reading CC. However, I’ve learned a ton about financial aid and how to make it work and about taxes and credits from reading CC.
A Facebook page says “HappyPapaya Films is a production company intent on creating the greatest films ever made that are focused entirely on jovial tropical fruit.”
So. Is this you? Fruit?
Even if its not, why should anyone take you seriously? As far as I’m concerned, permission from CC is not the same as an endorsement.
Porn producers advertise on Craig’s List like this. Why don’t you know that?
Maybe if Sally R posts something under her name indicating her confidence that you are legit.
Just heaping on… There are many students and families that don’t live on the coasts. We are relevant. At the very least you could have included like Chicago.
