How has college changed you?

How has being in college changed you? Are you more outgoing, organized, physically active?

Just for curiosity's sake.

I would say I’m more physically active, organized, and essentially have my life together more. When I first started college, I was a little on the flighty side. Now I’m practically managing a household (which turned out to be a lot easier than I thought).

I also have a better idea of how things work in the ‘real world’ than I did before.

I’m a lot more introspective and ethically aware, I think. A couple of classes changed the way I view responsibility and ethics/morality.

I’m not more outgoing. I wouldn’t say I’m all that much organized either. I am less physically active than I ever was.

My world views have changed. I’ve become more adaptable. One suggestion is to not bring your slacker mentality to college…it only works for so long. College makes you contradict yourself a lot.

Freshman year is almost over, and I’d say that I’m pretty much a different person after just a year out of high school.

For starters, I am a lot more physically fit. I started college at 165 lbs, and gained 10 pounds during the first month. Started to watch my diet and get a lot of exercise, and I am now 155 lbs with some gained muscle. So physically, I look a lot different.

I am also a lot more confident and social. Throughout high school, I suffered from social anxiety and irrational fears. I would always worry about what people thought about me, and not do a lot of things I wanted to do in fear of facing social repercussions. I was “that weird shy kid” in high school. However, freshman year has made me a lot more confident in myself. These days I don’t really care about what people think about me, and I am more sure about myself and my abilities. Overall, I have much higher self-esteem than before and I’m a lot more social.

I’m also a lot more aware of my thoughts and emotions. For example, a lot of the times, if I feel mad or irritated at something, I’ll start to think about why I’m feeling that emotion. As a result, I feel like I have a lot more control over my emotions and thoughts than before.

This stuff is just scratching the surface on the changes I made this year. Can’t believe I changed more in a year than I have in the past 4 years of high school.

I think one of the major things that I’ve changed is about how to really choose your friends, that it’s okay to get help and that you need to make yourself happy, rather than please others.

I learned to fill the void in my mind with knowledge so I become a better person… nah I havent learned anything

I am more confident, at least as far as my math/science abilities are concerned.
