How have you made money in HS?

Personally, I'm a Senior, and am wondering how everyone else makes a few bucks here or there, and maybe I can learn a cool trick. Many of you hold regular jobs, but anything creative?

I held a job at the State Fair and teach Trombone Lessons once a week.

Hustling people.

I made a good $1,000 from hosting Runescape Private servers for people for two years now. Actually, I am right now. I don’t even play the dumb game, but these guys always look for hosting and pay good!

However, I have like 4 servers that I made myself. That can be expensive, but if you found some old crappy PCs it won’t be that hard.
Oh an this, http://www.ubuntu.com/server</a>.

I have also been working with my dad in his company “Painting” during the summer for a good $3,000 each summer.

Thats mostly it, making a few websites here and there that got me like $30. I want to maybe look for a paying internship the summer before I go to college, but doubt that finding an internship will happen.

Several kids I know just go to BJ’s, buy candy in bulk, then carry it around school in a big ziplock bag, selling the candy bars/bags for $1 each (and they just look like they’re doing it for a fundraiser). Not a lot, but a bag a week is $20, mostly profit.

^ I totally thought that said “giving BJ’s”.

5 dolla hoe. Mamacita make bank.

I know people who buy things like electronics, video games, etc. they have their sources and sell to people for good profit at lower than retail prices.

I sold a photo I took once and got like $600. But that’s about it. Lol. I’ve done the candy selling thing before, but it really was for a fundraiser.

I waitressed this past summer, which was okay, though the people were somewhat rude. However, I have to admit the tips were excellent (especially towards the end - someone left me $80 and a lovely note commenting how my service made it an enjoyable meal - that totally made my night:)).

I usually tutor students after school - usually the school/district pays me.

^I wish our district paid for tutoring. I’m a peer tutor, but it’s just as a volunteer job. I need to rack up some hours…

I do video editing - big bucks
I run a photography and media business - big bucks
I tutor - decent, spotty pay
Sound guy - once a month, easy money

I’ve always been offered jobs… never had to find any.

Sighs me too, and I don’t have a sick mind I swear.

Anyway, I have never had a job but I earned money from writing a haiku (was for a competition and got a placing), and I submitted stuff into a teen magazine once and got free stuff.

I thought it said giving BJ’s too. Gotta say.

Most money I’ve made is babysitting. I hate it. Love kids. Hate babysitting. Nope. Just not my thing.

Damn. Seriously, I want to do that.

^For real, that’s intense cash lol.

I do freelance photography for events, like baby showers and local shows. If you’ve got a nice camera, local bands will pay pretty well to have you do a photo shoot. :)

Professional Musician, worked at the apple store, tutoring mathematics.

A friend of mine lives in Seattle, and he makes $30-$50/hour during peak hours of the day as a street musician in a big market area. He plays the clarinet. “Peak hours” only constitute around three hours or so, from what he’s told me, though.

^ Pikes Place? Love it there. Goodness. It’s amazing.

i liv nex 2 seattle luls

I don’t… I actually want to start making software for commercial use.

I could tutor but it would be for volunteer hours.
