I've always felt bad about asking my parents for money, but now since I'm getting older, the idea of making my own money becomes easier to grasp. So I'm looking for ideas on where to work or how to earn money.

Assuming you’re in high school, the only jobs available to you will be entry-level, unless you develop your own business, which would also look great on college aps. I’m a waitress, which is nice because you get your cash tips at the end of the night so you always have a bit of pocket money.

I work at a country club teaching tennis and working in the tennis shop. I get paid more than double the minimum wage when I’m on the court. Life’s good.

I haven’t had a job yet. Next summer though, I might have the opportunity to intern at a large mortgage company. My friend said he’s going to intern there, since his Mom works there. I hope I am lucky. It would be cool, since it pays about $12-15 an hour and the company is awesome too.

I lifeguarded for a while, now I work at Baskin Robbins. I’d rather make cool looking cakes and ice cream cones than sit in a chair and get sunburned for 6 hours straight. But that’s just me, other people I worked with loved guarding.

those are the best kind of babysitting gigs @harbor. I get paid $10/hr to babysit a 2 year old and a 4 year old from like 6PM-1AM and they’re in bed by 9:30. It’s nuts. I tell them to not pay me so much.

Granted, I like kids all the time, but nighttime is really fun.

@kray; huh! interesting. I want to be a lifeguard where I work right now because it seems like such a cool job.
