The older one remained largely off in his own intellectual world. Focused on a key hobby outside of school from an early age (grammar school) – fantasy baseball – which, however, incentivized him to learn spreadsheets, statistical analysis, and game strategies. Nothing inside school motivated him as much as that. In high school he continued this interest, added journalism and debate as key EC’s. His classwork was not as important to him as those activities. He was always on top in math and social studies, but also his ability to write. Ended up with good grades in HS (~3.8 unw), and excellent test scores (5 sat I and 2 scores added to 3910), though he never seemed to study and certainly not for his SAT’s. So you can guess what kind of career he ended up in: uses all of those core interests and skills that we could identify when he was 10 years old.
