-Took a First Semester Spanish class at BU the summer of 2013
and I earned an A-, 4 credits and 14.8 honor points
- The year before that, 2012, I did the Summer Challenge program, so that shows interest
- highest combined SAT score of 1800 (math 520, critical reading 650, writing 630)
-unweighted GPA of 3.27 but will probably rise this trimester (my school divides the year into trimesters not quarters or semesters) - my school has a lot of college level courses but we can only officially call two of them AP’s (English and some drawing course) because the rest don’t fit with the AP curriculum despite being just as challenging. I went to BU’s information session and they said they’ll know which classes are the hardest at your school (and they’ve admitted people from my school before so they know how it works there). So I’m taking:
AP English
Advanced French Studies II, which is the highest you can go at my school, and it’s about the same level as college junior French. The books we are reading are the same ones my mom read when she was at BU (that’s another thing: though I don’t want it to help me too much, I happen to be a legacy)
Modern Global Issues (one of the hardest history classes in school)
Bio II (advanced Biology course)
Pre-Calculus
Chamber Ensemble (a music class, basically like a school band)
-I have taken four years of everything
-I’ve been told my essay is very good
-strong recommendations (I hope)
-Early Decision, no financial aid
-My major is Elementary Education- not as popular as, for example, Communications or Healthcare, and I also marked myself as interested in CGS
Extra-curricular activities:
-Drama program at my school (over the years I have been both an actor and a tech crew member)
-Work at parent’s pharmaceutical company as an intern, which also hires BU graduate students (again, I don’t want this to influence BU’s decision about me too much, I want to get in mainly because of what I’ve done, not my mom). I do babysit as well but did not put that on Common App
-Volunteer at Armenian language school that meets on Saturdays in my town, help out in preschool classroom
-Am working on a play about disability rights in the 1960’s, have been taking some time off for schoolwork/college applications but have had scenes of it performed at school and intend to have it published someday
-Am also working on a children’s book that explains autism to young children
-plays instruments- guitar, piano and recorder
Academic Honors:
-I have made Honor Roll every single trimester since sophomore year
-Won Most Improved in Music Award last year
Demographic:
-18 year old Caucasian (Armenian) female
-Boston native
