-Unsure of what else I should take... Guidance, please?

I am very interested in Tufts. My extra-curriculars & summer classes/internships are quite strong. I'm also really interested in Princeton & Yale. My freshman yr was horrible, I know. How can I redeem myself?

I would get involved a lot with the community and do something really big that sets you apart and shows your passion. I would take those classes over the summer because harder classes always look good lol. Also try getting all A’s and perfect SAT/ACT scores. I would recommend taking classes at slyvan or something.

chance back?

if math isn’t your strong point i wouldn’t take it over the summer, especially with chem. however, you are significantly far behind in math. i took algebra 2 my freshman year… you’ve taken some interesting classes, though, which is good because it could suggest a desire for knowledge that isn’t just the run of the mill ap kid.

Theblu: I’m not “significanty far behind” at my school. Kids on the honors track take Alg 2 in sophomore yr, and regular kids take it in their junior year. Thanks, but since math isn’t my strong point shouldn’t I use the summertime to my advantage and get ahead?

If you can handle the compact nature of a summer math course, I do recommend doing Algebra 2 during summer. However, it is never a good idea to take multiple summer courses for grades, especially if the information in the summer classes are fundamental for next year courses, Ex. Pre-Calculus and AP Chemistry. Basically try choosing one class you’re particularly interested in taking rather than two, it’ll dramatically lighten the summer load. You’ve got to enjoy your summer too!

P.S
I suggest reviewing a bit of Algebra if you plan on taking it during summer. You might also want to review Algebra 2 after you finish the course during your vacation so you can retain the information- this will come in handy for future math courses!

I would take Algebra 2 over the summer. Considering I am about to finish up the school year, with both classes in my schedule. I would’ve much rather avoided taking them both at the same time. My Chem was VERY math oriented, I’m not sure why, but it honestly felt like a second math class, with all the equations and such. It got to the point where I was actually doing Algebra 2 math in Chem for a few days.

Algebra 2 is more work as well, at least at my school. Chem I could just float by, but it was a pain with “two math classes”.

Take the Algebra 2 over the summer, make your life a little simpler.

Thanks alot for your replies! Ok, so I’ll (hopefully) be able to take Alg. 2 … The only courses I’ve found so far cut into October!

So I guess that next year, I’ll take double science…H Chem & Physics or something
