My GC doesn't know me at all. Hence she doesn't know how much I've achieved in my extracurricular activities. She doesn't know how "creative" I am or how much respect I five to teachers.

But she will be asked by common app to rate me on those subjects. She told me that she doesn't think when answering those questions. She just looks at the graded and rate anything she likes.

For example:
If Student A scored 95%. She will put "Outstanding" as a rating in ALL questions.
If Student B scored 85%, she will put "Very Good" in ALL questions.

So, even if student B is outstanding in his creativity, she will put only "Very Good" because of his overall grade.

This is not fair.

Hey at least she is open about it. Most GCs and TAs consider their comments confidential and dont tell you diddly.

She is correct not to judge you on your ECs, though, they are looking primarily for academic recommendations.

The bottom line here is that she has the power so, fair or not, you need to play to her. Plead your case. Explain to her what you just posted here, and how you really value her time in giving you the best review possible, and they you really appreciate her help in getting into the school of your …you get the picture.

No one said life was fair. Some students have an absurdly high student:couselor ratio. Others will have counselors who know every student very well. College admissions knows the difference and will take that into account.
