I’m worried that my son’s application is going to hurt his chance at finalist. He’s not in any sports, but he is involved in tech club. He’s an extreme introvert who loves spending time creating digital art on his computer. Unfortunately, there isn’t a computer art club or chess club or many club offerings at all at his school. He spent his summer helping with our home business, but hasn’t done any paid work outside of home. Is this going to hurt his chances?
@Wildcat45 … As the father of 2 NMFs (Class of '11 and Class of '15) I can tell you it won’t hurt his chances whatsoever. The only area where ECs “might” be considered is in determining which students will be awarded the one-time $2500 scholarships…but no one knows for sure what criteria they look at for those awards so that’s just a guess.
As far as progressing to Finalist and qualifying for any school-sponsored awards it won’t matter in the least.
Congrats to your S!! <:-P
You just made my night - thank you!
I agree that it won’t hurt his chances for NMF but I would advise you to add his job to his college applications even if you didn’t pay him. It is an activity. I am sure he learned something from it.
