How important are freshman grades?

<p>My GPA is i think 3.96 or something but my GPA not including my first semester of my freshman year is a 4.0. I got a B+ and a B that semester. Do colleges look at each year equally?</p>

<p>Advanced degrees generally want to see your grades improve over time because it shows you’re becoming better at being a student and managing your time well. I’d assume it’s the same for undergrad as well.</p>
