do colleges look at freshman grades? if they do, are they as important as grades in sophomore, junior, and senior years?

some do, some dont
definately not as important as later years

I know the top Private schools advertise that they don't look at freshman grades too hard.

How bad were they?

3.86UW (basically all A's, but i had straight B's in one of the classes for the whole year)

nah, freshman is looked really lightly. I had a 3.4 WEIGHTED in freshman but made sum incredible upward trends and got into UCB, UCLA, USC, and Stanford

freshman year isn't that important.. many colleges don't even look at it (Stanford,Princeton.. etc.)

never worry about freshman. if u did bad, just make sure you have an upward trend.

Of course it counts! If you have a lousy freshman year then you have to make up for it with a very, very good sophomore and junior years. While UC schools might discount freshman year grades, that is not universal.

To a degree it counts, but it is better to raise your graders of the years, then to say, have an overthe top GPA freshman year and slip and slide in later years.

A B in 1 class as a freshamn (even all year) is not the end of the world.. Some teachers don't give out many A's.

citygirlsmom, Sorry, forgot I was posting on a kids- mostly board where it's assumed that a "bad" gpa is 3.4 :rolleyes
