I recently went on an East Coast college tour.

Every admission officer said that the most important aspect of the application was the transcript (rigor, gpa, etc).

Some even said that the SAT was only a measure of your ability to handle college courses.

Now i'm wondering how important the SAT's really are.

If I scored near the top 50% of all my college median SAT scores (2280) , is there a need to retake and aim for the top25% score? (on the basis that I have 2 800 SAT II and probably a near 4 unweighted GPA and a 1 or 2 rank of 300)

Thanks to everyone in advance and have a great summer :)

That would depend on your ethnicity, to be quite frank. If you are Asian or white, doing so might be beneficial. However, those are AMAZING scores, in any event, and you should certainly take pride in them :)

No problem! Emm, a 1540 CR/M is good for any college, imho, but some worrywarts around here seem to think 2300+ is the place to be. Personally, I think your scores are good enough for just about anywhere, assuming the rest of your app is as good as your stats :)

Umm, I will be applying this year, actually, lol. However, take my scores with a grain of salt; I received a 2260 my frist try (770 CR, 720 M, and 770 W) and 2240 on my second (790 CR, 760 M, and 690W). Although my superscore is high, my single sitting SAT is not quite as impressive.
