@mdorbust I know, even lower tiered schools are seeing dramatic drops in acceptance rates.
It’s definitely the individual, though. For example, I commute to school, but I spend a lot of time on campus and i’m involved in a few activities and opportunities which have made it worth it.
I’ve mostly been looking into schools on the cheaper side or that have good aid (and some that don’t, just for fun). I’ve looked at Berkeley, WWU, UW, UV, Bowdoin, Oregon, Lewis and Clark, etc. It’s honestly such a huge range of schools that don’t really fit into a specific category, but I feel sort of cheated from when I was applying as a senior. My counselor narrowed down my list so much I ended up only applying to a few out of state schools (2 in NY [both ridiculously expensive and I only got like 2k in aid] and one in Minnesota) and the rest were all in California. It wasn’t till summer before college I realized I’d really rather not live at home or really in SoCal anymore, so part of the reason for me wanting to transfer is also linked to wanting to get out of CA and get a ‘college experience’.
@asdfghjkl13 That’s a good list of schools! This is your last shot so you might as well apply to wherever you want; the application fees are just a drop in the bucket anyways. Yeah, I feel you wanting to get out of the bubble you grew up in. I can’t even imagine living at home for another 4 years lol. I feel like living in dorms and stuff is so integral to making the most of your experience.
@mdorbust Yeah that’s what I was thinking too. I just don’t want to end up regretting my choice not to apply. I’ll just have to see what my best options are once it’s July/August and the time comes to start narrowing down the list of schools to apply to and figure it out from there hahaha
@asdfghjkl13 Yeah, don’t even worry about it, you still have plenty of time!
