how much do high school gpa matter for sophomore transfers?

as a sophomore transfer from a CC, how much will sophomore grades matter?

i am thinking of dropping out of high school senior year ( I’m turning 18 by the end of my junior year, so i can legally drop out. this isdue to personal issues, do not want to explain ) and going to a CC instead.

for high school grades: 9th: 4.0, 10th: 4.0 (this was my first year in the US) , 11th: 3.5 (lol)

I did decent on the SAT, which was a 1520 (New SAT). I have three SAT 2s – two foreign languages, one 800 and one 740, and math 1 (lol took it for fun, decided to take it on the spot for no reason. 790). I’m passionate about learning languages and I’m planning on taking another SAT 2 on another foreign language this coming november.

schools that I’m thinking of applying to are USF, Occidental, Pepperdine, USC, and some other private schools that accept sophomore transfers…

also, would there be a disadvantage for me for me if I start CC w/o a high school diploma? plus, would I need spectacular ECs?

any answers would help… thanks!!

How would you start CC without a Highschool degree?
No one is going to pry and ask you why you’re thinking about dropping out of Highschool but if you value the suggestion of a stranger, I strongly urge you…not to do that.

Seriously. Rethink your decision. From what you wrote, you seem like a very academically inclined student. Pull through your senior year, and apply to top colleges. Don’t quit- show your future college how you overcame adversity. Give them a good reason to believe in you and your potential.

Good luck.

Inorder to qualify for federal financial aid, you need a high school diploma or a GED. So don’t just drop out. Come up with a plan that will let you graduate early instead.

Since you will only have completed one year of college courses, your high school statistics will be considered (the better the school, the more these stats matter) significantly for transfer admission. I also strongly recommend that you don’t drop out, the schools you’re interested may be more accepting towards the decline in gpa trend given your personally issues.
