I have applied to Reed College regular decision for Fall 2015. I'm a Florida resident, so affording travel back and forth to Reed would get pricey, however Reed is one of my top college choices. I applied to 8 schools and it's definitely one of the top 2.

The closest Reed College interview is next week in Atlanta, GA. That's a 5-6 hour drive for me. I'd definitely be up for doing it. However, Reed mentions that I can interview "with an alumni in your hometown, or by phone if all other options are unavailable."

How important is it to have a face-to-face interview with Reed admissions? I would imagine very important. But I'm looking for the opinions of others that have gone through this process.

Hi there! I’m Swati, and I’m a counselor in the admission office. We understand that not everyone is able to interview, and so they are not required for your application. Not having interviewed does not negatively impact your application in any way. Unfortunately, we as admission counselors aren’t always able to travel to and offer interviews in every state where our applicants live. However, if you’re on our mailing list (http://admission.reed.edu/inform.taf), you will receive an e-mail any time that there are interviews or alumni interviews in your area. I do want to reiterate though, and if you aren’t able to interview, that is a-ok!

If you have any questions along the way about Reed, you should definitely get in contact with your region counselor, John Perkins (<a href=“Contact - Admission - Reed College”>Contact - Admission - Reed College). He is the first person who will read your application later this year.

Thank you for the information!
