How important is SAT to transferring to Ivies?

Hi, I'm in a liberal arts college and I'm an international student. I got 2200 in SAT with 680 in reading, I want to transfer to the ivies but I find that my critical reading section score in SAT is below the score of 75% students in ivy schools ( although not by much, about 10-20 points below). Some say SAT is not that important, so I'm wondering do I have to take SAT again? Thank you:)

Based on the majority of advice I’ve gotten, you shouldn’t bother retaking them. SAT is more to show if you’re prepared for college academics; so you’re performance should show that. Your SAT will hold more weight if you’re a freshman transfer applicant, by the way.

Ditto what the above said: SATs are far more important for sophomore transfers and less so for junior transfers. Likewise, a 2200 is terrific - 99th percentile. No reason to retake it.

If that’s true why do they bother to ask for them?

Committees bother to ask for them because the scores allow them to better evaluate a candidate’s academic competence. It helps them whittle down the pool more.

yes I’m applying for sophomore, but 75% students in ivies have reading scores more than 690-700. As AOs are evaluating my academic performance, I’m afraid they’ll probably kick me out because my SAT score doesn’t meet their score threshold.

I’m an international student, so competition must be harsher.

I guess I’m the one who gets whittled down…but I’m now taking a gap year, and I read many books in English and constantly improving myself, so I may demonstrate my reading abilities without retaking SAT. I hope AOs will understand my situation.
