After taking the new March SAT, I ended up getting a score of 1510 (750 Reading and 760 Math), but on the essay portion I ended up with a 6/5/7 (each out of 8 for a total of 24), which is semi-high, but I’m kinda unsure as to how high it really is compared to other scores. How important is this new optional SAT Essay going to be in admissions this year, and should I retake the exam just to try and boost that score?
Most colleges aren’t requiring the essay, so it really depends on where you want to go to school (the only one I can think of right now that requires it is Harvard, but I’m sure there are more). Overall, that’s a great score and I think you probably don’t have to worry.
