I am a high school senior going to CUNY Hunter. I want to plan out my transfer ahead of time. My current top choice would be Cornell University. However, it is not my only choice as I know Cornell does not require SAT scores for transfers. I am worried that if I take the SAT after high school, colleges will not accept it. I have a 1990 on my SAT(620,770,600). I do not know if I should try to get a higher score.

Kinda similar: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/transfer-students/903594-what-if-you-dont-want-send-your-sat-scores.html

I will be going to CUNY Baruch this fall, and I plan to transfer as well. I’m really surprised there’s another person going to CUNY with that SAT score. Are you in honors? I’m going to take it this June to avoid the issue you mentioned. The registration for the June SAT closes some time around May 3rd, I believe.

When do you plan on leaving?

Because if you plan on transfering after the first semester, you can’t. Some schools only allow you to apply to transfer with a minimum 12 credits. However, its not possible to transfer after your first semesterbecause you would have already needed your grades to be on paper before the application deadline, which is impossible.

Now if you decide to transfer after a year, some schools say that if you have a minimum of 24 or 30 credits then you don’t need to submit your SAT score or HS transcript.

Btw the credit estimate I gave is estimated. Different schools have different credit minimums.

So for a transfer student who plans to transfer after 1 year with more the X amount of credits, then no it is not important.
But if you have the minimum then yes it is very important.
